*Cook with only cast iron, including enameled covered cast iron since cheap pans and tephlon coated ones can emit toxins causing cancer.

*Replace microwave with convection oven

*Replace dishes with Corelle to avoid lead leaching in to your food

*Use Pyrex and glass bake ware

*Limit use of aluminum foil and try to make sure it does not contact food since aluminum is a known neurotoxin

*Clean with Vinegar. It’s all natural and works very well.

*Drink Deer Park natural spring water since sodium fluoride is a toxic waste by product from aluminum factories.

*Eliminate fluoride completely by switching to fluoride free toothpastes and mouthwashes

*Switched to aluminum free deodorant

*Stop drinking all cows milk products including ice cream, yogurt because of hormones

*Eat only organic meat to avoid exposure to antibiotics and steroids

*Cloth diaper and use family cloth such as cloth paper towels

*Stopped consuming Aspartame and artificial sweeteners

It turns out there is a detox period when you stop consuming gluten. At first, you feel great, then you can feel very ill until you begin feeling better again.

According to this site he peptides from gluten [gliadorphin] and casein [casomorphin] are important because the react with opiate receptors in the brain, thus mimicking the effects of opiate drugs like heroin and morphine. These compounds have been shown to react with areas of the brain such as the temporal lobes, which are involved in speech and auditory integration.

Children with autism frequently seem addicted to wheat and dairy products. Presumably, people with Autism and schizophrenia incompletely digest wheat and dairy products. These incompletely digested peptides are then absorbed into the body and bind to opiate receptors, altering behavior and other physiological reactions.

The addictive nature of gluten is often overlooked. For some, the first days and weeks of following a gluten-free diet are characterized by food cravings, disorientation, irritability, sleepiness, depression, mental fogginess, fatigue, and/or shortness of breath.

If you are a member of this group, the very fact that you are experiencing many of these symptoms should reinforce the need to exclude gluten from your diet. These are common symptoms of withdrawal of detoxification from gluten-derived opioid and brain neurochemical imbalances. The evidence suggests that about 70 percent of celiac patients will experience these symptoms when beginning a strict gluten-free diet.

The person who prepares the patient’s food must fully understand the gluten-free diet. Read food labels carefully.

Do not eat anything that contains the following grains: wheat, rye, and barley.

The following can be eaten in any amount: corn, potato, rice, soybeans, tapioca, arrowroot, carob, buckwheat, millet, amaranth and quinoa.

Distilled white vinegar does not contain gluten.

Malt vinegar does contain gluten.

Grains are used in the processing of many ingredients, so it will be necessary to seek out hidden gluten. The following terms found in food labels may mean that there is gluten in the product.

Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein (HVP), unless made from soy or corn

Flour or Cereal products, unless made with pure rice flour, corn flour, potato flour, or soy flour

Vegetable Protein unless made from soy or corn

Malt or Malt Flavoring unless derived from corn

Modified Starch or Modified Food Starch unless arrowroot, corn, potato, tapioca, waxy maize, or maize is used

Vegetable Gum unless vegetable gums are carob bean gum, locust bean gum, cellulose gum, guar gum, gum arabic, gum aracia, gum tragacanth, xanthan gum, or vegetable starch

Soy Sauce or Soy Sauce Solids unless you know they do not contain wheat

Any of the following words on food labels usually means that a grain containing gluten has been used

stabilizer

starch

flavoring

emulsifier

hydrolyzed

plant protein

There are now several companies that produce gluten-free products, and several support groups to provide delicious recipes and help patients adapt to the gluten-free diet.
